Review by hotel critic
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a culinary journey like no other at Biohotel Castello. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Austrian Alps, this charming hotel curated a dining experience that left me in awe. As a culinary critic with a penchant for traditional Austrian fare, I was delighted to not only taste but also participate in the creation of dishes sourced from the mesmerizing alpine pastures surrounding the hotel. One evening, guided by junior chef Christian, I embarked on a foraging adventure, collecting bright yellow chanterelles and spicy porcini mushrooms, which would later grace our table in the Tiroler Stube. The fresh farmhouse bread and smoked trout from the lake, with its crystal-clear water, added a local touch to our meal that was truly unforgettable. One particular highlight was when Christian cooked the traditional "Kaiserschmarrn" on the terrace, infusing the dish with warmth and flavor that resonated with the picturesque surroundings. The breakfast spread, while standard in selection, boasted an array of fresh and delicious options that fueled my exploration of Austrian flavors further. From the cozy Zirbenstube to the Salzburger Stube, each dining setting added a layer of authenticity to my gastronomic adventure. This hotel is a hidden gem for culinary enthusiasts seeking a taste of Austria's rich flavors amidst nature's grandeur.
